Centenary Lodge is the first Daylight Mark Lodge in the Province of Staffordshire and Shropshire having moved in 2023 from its original meeting location in Market Drayton to the Masonic Hall in Whitchurch, Shropshire.
Meeting on the morning of the Third Wednesday in February, June and October each year, our installation meeting takes place in February.
What makes us a bit different ?
- We are a Daylight Lodge meeting during daylight hours (mornings)
- We have Breakfast before each meeting with the exception of Installation when we have lunch
- We are Central so easily accessible for Staffordshire / Shropshire / Cheshire / North & Mid Wales
What does this mean ?
We find that many masons are more reluctant to travel any distance at night so the option of a Lodge that meets in the morning is very attractive to them. We start our normal meetings at 11:00 with breakfast before from 10:00, Installation is a special meeting and for this, we decided to start the meeting at 10:00 and then have lunch afterwards.
In all cases (and it is part of our Bylaws) that the whole event must be closed by 14:00 at the very latest without exception which ensures that those that travel the largest distances should be able to complete their journey in the daylight.
We have either a Full English or Continental breakfast which our members choose when they book themselves and guests for the meeting, many do not want a large evening meal so the option of a smaller continental style breakfast suits much better.
We meet at the Masonic Rooms in Whitchurch, Shropshire and we are part of the Province of Staffordshire and Shropshire, but if you look on a map you will see that the market town of Whitchurch is very close to the borders of Cheshire and Wales and therefore we are delighted to welcome guests and members from all areas to our meetings.
What is Mark Masonry ?
Mark Masonry is a type of Freemasonry that focuses on the building of King Solomon’s Temple.
It is named after the mark or symbol that stonemasons used to identify their work. In Mark Masonry, members learn about the practical skills and tools using in the construction of stone buildings, as well as the values of hard work, integrity, and charity.
Overall, Mark Masonry seeks to promote the ideals of honesty, loyalty, and fellowship among its members, using the history and traditions of stonemasonry as a guide.
Who can join ?
Centenary Lodge welcomes joining members who are already Mark Masons, either in other Mark Lodges in any Province, or those that are currently “unattached”.
If you are not a Mark Mason yet, then any Freemason who is a member of a Craft Lodge can join as a new member of Centenary and a new Mark Mason.
How do I join ?
For all prospective new and joining members, the first thing to do is to get in touch with our Lodge Secretary who can provide more details and arrange to send you additional information as required.
If you are thinking of becoming a joining member then why not come and visit, have breakfast and a chat with our current members, again , just contact our Secretary.
